Progress Sync

Automatic synchronization across devices

AudioBookSync automatically syncs your listening and reading progress across all your devices via iCloud Drive.

How It Works

Each device writes its progress to its own sync file in iCloud Drive, so devices never overwrite each other. Progress is periodically bundled and saved, and written immediately when the app moves to the background.

Device Dialog

When opening a book, the app checks if another device has newer progress. If so, you can switch to the newer progress or continue at your local position.

Reading position becomes a listening position

While you read in the e-book, the reading device continuously translates your position into the matching listening position and puts it into the sync file alongside your progress. On the other device it is treated like any other position: the more recent activity wins. In CarPlay it is applied without a prompt — but never more than ten minutes backwards.

Index Sharing

The transcription index is also shared via iCloud. A second device doesn't need to re-transcribe the audiobook — the completed index is automatically adopted.
